See You Again (Time Already Knows) - Chapter 69 - Part 2

Chapter 69 - “He Is Jane’s Ex-Boyfriend.” “There’s Still Some Elsewhere. Let’s Go Together.” - Part 2

The flight was three hours late, but finally arrived safely.

Shi Jian stood at the exit, her eyes on the flow of people coming out. She heard Tim’s voice happily call out to her: “Hi, Jane!”

Shi Jian hugged Tim. She remembered that Tim was on the flight alone, so she barely held back her tears and asked, “Were you scared?”

“Nope,” Tim replied reassuredly. Even though he might have been a bit afraid in the beginning, he had been discussing the mysteries of the universe with Ye Jiacheng after that. Right, Jiacheng Gege……

Tim started to say something but hesitated.

Shi Jian also noticed Tim’s lack of luggage and was just about to ask. Nearby, Ye Jiacheng walked over with two suitcases.

Understanding the situation, she still had to express thanks, “Thank you for taking care of Tim.”

“No problem.” Ye Jiacheng held onto the suitcase handle. He looked ahead of them and said, “The weather is not so great. Let’s all take my car. I’ll give you two a ride.”

“No need. It’s easy to get a taxi.”

It was already very early in the morning on a dark and snowy night. There were only a few taxis still at the airport, but the line was very long. Shi Jian apologetically patted Tim, who was leaning on the railing and her cellphone rang again.

Shi Jian still ended up getting into Ye Jiacheng’s car that was parked in the airport with Tim. She told Ye Jiacheng her current address. Auntie’s house was too far away from Yi Mao Real Estate, so she rented an apartment nearby the office.

The road was slippery with snow. Ye Jiacheng drove very slowly. When they arrived, Tim was already drowsy. Shi Jian cruelly pinched Tim awake. Tim wasn’t delicate. He quickly rubbed his cheek and prepared to get out of the car.

“Be safe on your way back,” Shi Jian said before leaving.

Ye Jiacheng also got out of the car. The hand in his coat pocket had turned into a fist. He silently watched as Shi Jian was about to head upstairs, unable to say anything. Now, he even needed to find a reason to walk her upstairs.

“Little fox……” The nickname slipped out. He hadn’t called her that in too long, leading to a kind of panicked dreamlike feeling.

Shi Jian turned and looked back at him.

Ye Jiacheng gazed at her. He really hadn’t taken a good look at her in so long. He discovered that Shi Jian had gotten a lot skinnier, and there was no more meat below her cheeks. Her small chin rested softly in the circle of her coat’s white rabbit fur. She really looked like a little fox.

“Little fox……” Shi Jian was also still for a long time. She really hadn’t heard this nickname in a long time. This little fox was completely unrelated to Mr.Ye; it was another thing that distinguished Mr.Ye from Ye Jiacheng. Shi Jian still raised a corner of her lip: “I’m going upstairs now.”

“Alright.”

When Shi Jian went upstairs, Ye Jiacheng still hadn’t left yet. The snowstorm gradually got heavier. Flakes fluttered through the air. The corridor outside was piled up with snow. The pale blue light of the streetlamps shone down, reflecting onto the snow, like cold moonlight. Ye Jiacheng put both his hands in his pockets, walked a couple steps, exhaled a misty breath of air, and couldn’t help but sigh.

Snowflakes really could enchant and confuse someone.

“Is it snowing in Berlin?” “If it snows, snap a photo for me.” In the end, he had forgotten to take a photo last year and just directly came back from Berlin.

“Then we’ll go see the snow together next year……”

This year, there was no snow in Berlin, but A-City’s snow was unexpectedly heavy. He didn’t know why, but he felt like he forever owed the little fox a promise that could not be fulfilled.

Ten minutes later, Shi Jian received a call from Ye Jiacheng.

“Shi Jian, come down for a moment,” Ye Jiacheng’s voice was a bit strange, as if he was suppressing some kind of emotion.

Upstairs, before Shi Jian could even react, Ye Jiacheng’s voice sounded again, more normal than before, “You left something in my car.”

What thing……? Shi Jian went downstairs. She saw that Ye Jiacheng was still waiting by his car. She asked as lightly as possible: “What did I leave……?”

Her voice slightly wavered off. Shi Jian had already been hauled into Ye Jiacheng’s chest, followed by being fiercely kissed. There was only the feeling of chilly snow, lips trembling with warmth, as well as a disoriented and difficult to inhibit heart.

Abruptly, Shi Jian shoved Ye Jiacheng away. She had seen too many scenes of this before, leading her to be unable to accept this sudden influx of “love”, especially since she had seen that kissing scene the other night. With cold and red rimmed eyes, she asked him a question: “Ye Jiacheng, what do you mean by this?”

Ye Jiacheng was speechless. He licked his bitten lips. His eyes were also slightly red.

Shi Jian only felt cold. The air inside her lungs flowed in a rush. The words she said next were as if she had compacted all the coldness of the ice and snow into a sentence: “Ye Jiacheng, do you think that I’m someone that will come and go as you wish?”

“Is dumping me twice not enough that you have to dump me again?”

“Am I, Shi Jian, not worthy of your respect?”

“……”

All of those upsetting, hurt, and grieved feelings tumbled around in her body. Shi Jian asked each question one by one. It was more as if she was unburdening herself. It’s just that this kind of unburdening was also powerless.

“I’m sorry.”

Sorry, little fox. Ye Jiacheng finally apologized calmly, got in his car, and left. He shouldn’t be like this, but why was he like this in the first place? He had called her downstairs because he had genuinely wanted to ask her: “Did he still have a chance to go see the snow in Berlin with her?”

Ye Jiacheng recalled what he said to Gao Yanfei at the time after they broke up, “If Shi Jian and I dated for a few more months, we might not be able to part from each other anymore.”

Only a few months? But maybe he didn’t even need a few months, only a few more days. Or maybe if they slept together a little later. Then the two of them might have been inseparable, and they wouldn’t have become the way they were now……

——

The next day, Shi Jian brought Tim to the general office. Tim had grown good-looking, and was also a gentlemanly boy. Regardless of whether it was now or the past, he greatly fulfilled his older sister’s vanity.

As Shi Jian worked, Tim did some math questions that she’d downloaded from the internet on her office desk. Tim wasn’t afraid of strangers. Regardless of whether it was Zhang Kai or Yi Pei, they were Zhang Kai Gege or Yi Pei Gege.

Yi Pei Gege…… Because she called Yi Pei President Yi, Tim added a Gege after it, so it became Yi Pei Gege. Yi Pei was elated when he heard Tim call him this.

Then, Yi Pei let Tim do his homework in his own office because it was somewhat noisy outside.

Tim followed after Yi Pei very naturally.

When Shi Jian walked into Yi Pei’s office, Tim and Yi Pei each worked on their own desk. Shi Jian had wanted to call Tim outside when she came in. She was afraid Tim would talk too much and distract Yi Pei.

Sure enough, every time Tim had trouble figuring a problem out, he immediately asked Yi Pei. When she came in, Yi Pei was tutoring Tim very patiently.

Hearing that Shi Jian wanted to take Tim away, Yi Pei smiled: “Don’t tell me I don’t even have the time to talk to a little kid?”

“If I really am that busy, in the future, whoever my child is will suffer calamities,” Yi Pei chuckled and stood up, taking off his jacket as he spoke. Where was Yi Pei going? Shi Jian did not understand. Tim spoke excitedly before her: “I finished this problem! We can go outside and make a snowman.”

We? Was Tim asking Yi Pei to play in the snow with him?

Ooh…… the little devil! It was impolite for Shi Jian to tell Tim that Yi Pei was busy in front of Yi Pei himself. She could only smile and let Tim go. Looking outside, she said, “TIm, there’s no snow anymore. Look, all the snow on the road has been shoveled away.”

Tim was a bit dejected because she didn’t permit him to go.

Yi Pei smiled, standing by his genuine wood coat rack. He interrupted her: “There’s still some elsewhere. Let’s go together.”

Shi Jian: “……”

She knew that the place Yi Pei was talking about was the rooftop of Yi Mao Real Estate.
