See You Again (Time Already Knows) - Chapter 28

Chapter 28 - “I Did More Than Just Go To A Party With My Ex-Girlfriend Tonight. I Even Kissed Her.”

They met by chance, and the situation was kind of unfortunate.

Shi Jian was still in Ye Jiacheng’s embrace. After Gao Yanfei’s teasing, they immediately saw Song Xiaojing’s ashen face. She let go of Ye Jiacheng, not because she wasn’t confident, it was just…… there were too many people around.

Her hand was immediately grabbed by Ye Jiacheng. He took her to face his classmates and friends together, as well as the troublemaker Gao Yanfei.

To be honest, Gao Yanfei didn’t deliberately come to disturb their “Winter Romance”. On the contrary, he wished he’d never witnessed this. To pay back an emotional debt to Song Xiaojing, he specifically found a reason for Ye Jiacheng to come get the bill at the party earlier. Song Xiaojing wanted to reconcile with him. He was aware of this and Ye Jiacheng also knew. Because he knew, Ye Jiacheng wanted to avoid hiding from Song Xiaojing further, so he simply cornered Song Xiaojing so that she didn’t have even the space to conjecture. Ye Jiacheng left halfway through, so Song Xiaojing also couldn’t sit still. There was no reason to stay for the rest of the party, so she and the girls huffed that they wanted to buy warm socks from the nearby night market. He enthusiastically accompanied the girls to take a look and didn’t expect to see a romantic scene as soon as he turned the corner.

A young couple consisting of a talented man and a beautiful woman.

Making out passionately.

It was extremely moving, as if they were filming a scene in a movie.

Only, there was a difference between movies and real life, even though the concept was the same. When watching a movie, one could shamelessly insert themselves into the characters and enjoy that kind of pleasant salacious feeling. As for the scene that was presented tonight, no matter how thick Gao Yanfei’s face was, he absolutely couldn’t peacefully pretend that the man kissing Shi Jian was himself and feel the uninterrupted affection of the girl in his arms……

Queasy.

He was even less able to be in a good mood.

But the person who was probably more vexed than him was this girl who took the initiative to break up, the one who used the  “absence makes the heart grow fonder” strategy, the one standing next to him: Song Xiaojing. Even if there was no seductive little fox that had appeared, let alone the one that did appear, Ye Jiacheng wasn’t a man that went back to nibble on the grass behind him.

Oh. No, Ye Jiacheng was nibbling the grass that was behind him right now, and he was nibbling so eagerly! How moving!

At this, Gao Yanfei glanced at Song Xiaojing pitifully. Then he grinned towards Ye Jiacheng and the little fox and politely greeted: “It’s so cold out! I hope we haven’t interrupted you two.”

Ye Jiacheng slightly smiled, leading Shi Jian by the hand magnanimously. He tolerated Gao Yanfei’s teasing, until his gaze landed on the scarf in Song Xiaojing’s hands.

That scarf was his.

Earlier, he had left in a hurry to find the little fox and accidentally left his scarf at the snack stall. He didn’t expect Song Xiaojing to return this scarf.

Shi Jian looked up and watched Ye Jiacheng attentively. Then, she looked at what Ye Jiacheng was looking at and watched Song Xiaojing. She recalled that she had never paid much attention to Song Xiaojing, a love rival. The reason for this was simple. She and Ye Jiacheng bonded like glue, and Song Xiaojing’s pining and unforgettable love for Ye Jiacheng was only one-sided. There was no need to groundlessly worry about it. She completely trusted every word Ye Jiacheng said to her.

Only, at this moment, even if she trusted Ye Jiacheng all the same, there were things she wasn’t completely confident of.

From the same group of people, the one that stood next to Ye Jiacheng last time was still Song Xiaojing, but it suddenly turned into Ye Jiacheng holding her hand in front of Song Xiaojing.

Furthermore, she only got Ye Jiacheng back after she pestered and racked her brains for ways to reconcile with him.

However, what was up with Song Xiaojing’s expression? Love was first come first served by the order of highest quality. Did she want it to be by seniority?

Across from them, Song Xiaojing pulled on a sneering smile, and walked over with the scarf. The other girls also followed her over, as if they were keeping up appearances for Song Xiaojing.

Shi Jian raised her chin, about to vomit blood inside. Only, she had to try her best even if she would lose. She’d never backed down in critical moments like these before. But because she did this, it made Song Xiaojing think she was even more shameless.

Song Xiaojing looked askance at her, and abhorrence flashed through her eyes. Song Xiaojing’s classmates looked at her with the same kind of expression, itching to see bloody caverns appear on her face.

A step apart from each other.

Song Xiaojing was inwardly bitter and indignant. She was an intelligent student after all, and had even continuously maintained a prideful appearance. She calmly said to Ye Jiacheng, “Classmate Ye, your scarf was left on your chair. I brought it over for you. I originally wanted to return it to you tomorrow, but I didn’t expect to run into you again tonight…… Here, your scarf.”

When she finished, Song Xiaojing handed the scarf to Ye Jiacheng. She even feigned charm and relaxation as she said that last sentence.

This was a gray woollen men’s scarf. Shi Jian’s line of sight landed indifferently on the scarf. It turned out that the bustling noise she heard through the telephone were Song Xiaojing, Gao Yanfei, and the others. Ye Jiacheng went to a party with them.

Suddenly, her hand was gripped even tighter. Ye Jiacheng’s left hand held her own hand, and he took the scarf with his right hand. He nodded towards Song Xiaojing, and gratefully thanked her: “Thank you for being considerate.”

“No need……” Song Xiaojing bit her lip. Merely saying a two-worded sentence had her choked with emotion.

Song Xiaojing was a woman after all. Probably because she was hurt by Ye Jiacheng’s cold attitude, the tears immediately flowed like raindrops, and she hid her face and cried dismally.

Seeing this reaction, Shi Jian turned away and also wanted to cry. But in front of them, she was probably the one with the least qualifications to start crying. A shrewd girl couldn’t help condemning her. Girls from B-University didn’t really know how to scold someone, so in her fury, she could only spit out: “How shameless!”

Another was more ferocious, and asked after her parents: “Classmate, how old are you? Have your parents never taught you that you can’t steal other people’s boyfriends?”

Shi Jian nodded. She wasn’t angry, but the one who was angry was Ye Jiacheng. He emotionlessly said: “Don’t tell me your parents never taught you that it’s impolite to criticize others without distinguishing right or wrong? Song Xiaojing hadn’t told you that we broke up already.”

Had they already broken up? Song Xiaojing had only told them that they were having a fight.

How fraudulent!

The two girls looked at each other, stunned into silence by Ye Jiacheng’s sarcastic comment and didn’t know how to reconcile. Gao Yanfei walked over and pretended to assume the heavy responsibility of being the mediator: “It’s just a misunderstanding. We’re all classmates. Jiacheng, don’t be like this~”

Gao Yanfei’s words were somewhat partial.

“Apologies.” Ye Jiacheng said to them mockingly. Then he looked at Shi Jian and was actually a bit apologetic.

The little fox quietly stayed next to him, and her soft hand was in his palm. Then she looked up, her black pupils turned towards him, and her fair face glowed prettily.

Actually, the little fox definitely was not of the kind type. He was clear on this.

Charm confused people.

Song Xiaojing crouched on the ground and sobbed endlessly, looking abnormally frail. Ye Jiacheng didn’t stay, and led Shi Jian to his car parked at the curbside. Irrational actions made people frustrated. Song Xiaojing would probably regret her current behavior tomorrow. He still wanted to see the little fox’s reaction. Was she angry, upset, or…… embarrassed? His gaze indistinctly went in her direction. Ye Jiacheng observed her for a few moments.

Shi Jian looked away, not letting him see.

Ye Jiacheng drove the car away and lazily slapped the steering wheel. She didn’t say anything and he also didn’t want to start the conversation.

“You and Song Xiaojing……” Shi Jian asked, “You two?”

“We split.” Ye Jiacheng supported his head with his right hand, and flatly added, “Don’t you already know this?”

Shi Jian: “I……” This wasn’t what she wanted to ask.

Ye Jiacheng lightly smiled and guessed: “Don’t tell me, you feel guilty?”

“Why would I feel guilty?” Shi Jian tapped her nose and unperturbedly said, “You aren’t guilty, so why should I feel guilty?”

“You jest. Why would I feel guilty?” Ye Jiacheng retorted with the same question, and sounded like he had never cared before, “If I feel guilty and troubled for each of my ex-girlfriends, I won’t have to do anything else in this life. I can just live inside my guilty conscience.”

Shi Jian was speechless. Ye Jiacheng wasn’t wrong. But being a woman, she still would feel repulsed towards this kind of man. He didn’t treasure the hearts he took away at all. But, this currently repulsive man was also…… her future husband.

The thing she wondered about was why he and Song Xiaojing were at a party together. Even if she had no qualifications, she still puffed her cheeks and sourly spit out: “So you went to a party with your ex-girlfriend today?”

She regretted it once she said this.

“Yeah……” Ye Jiacheng honestly admitted, and didn’t forget to provokingly add: “I did more than just go to a party with my ex-girlfriend tonight. I even kissed her.”

Shi Jian: “……”

She didn’t speak anymore. On the contrary, Ye Jiacheng sighed, as if he was the one that was helpless. He changed the subject and unexpectedly asked her: “Little fox, what do you like about me?

“I…… don’t know,” Shi Jian replied. She didn’t know how to say that if she didn’t have her memories, she definitely couldn’t avoid the disaster that was Ye Jiacheng fast enough.

“How do you not know?” Ye Jiacheng didn’t want to let it slide, so much so that he calmly said: “Is it so difficult to answer? You can just say something random. For example, my looks, my money, even my wisdom and talent, my family background? Or……”

Ye Jiacheng thought of that night, and didn’t say any more. Unwilling to give up, he added an even more aggravating answer: “Or is it my kissing skills? Yeah?” Of all the answers, if it meant that he had no flaws, then he was okay with it.

“Shameless.” Shi Jian groused and smiled at the same time.

“Hypocritical fox!” Ye Jiacheng countered, and chuckled, “Could it be that you have no opinions about me whatsoever? I don’t believe it.”

Of course she had opinions about him. But he thought he could make her so embarrassed that she would go “please don’t”? She’d been together with him for five or six years. Shi Jian gritted her teeth and replied to Ye Jiacheng: “That’s right, the thing I like most about you…… is your kissing skills.”

“……”

Ye Jiacheng quieted and silently looked out the car window. After a while, he unconsciously blinked, and reached out to touch his lip. Pretending to be relaxed, Ye Jiacheng smoothed his expression and replied: “Oh, is that so? I’m extremely honored.”

So the little fox liked kissing him.

Ah, he also liked it.

……

Shi Jian borrowed three hundred eighty-six yuan from Ye Jiacheng. It wasn’t easy to find an ATM in the dead of night, so Ye Jiacheng just gave her the cash in his wallet.

All of it was shoved into her palm, even the dime in his pocket.

……so he really didn’t have five hundred yuan.

The next day, Shi Jian arrived at the general office and saw a shaking head. She hurriedly went up and greeted, “Zhang Kai, you finally came back!”

Amazing, she didn't have to go on Yi Pei’s dates anymore!
